Presentation of the DS 393

The Doctoral School promotes research on two public health essential disciplines : Epidemiology and Biomedical information science.

The Doctoral School's project, is based on the two following convictions: epidemiological research increasingly requires the use of sophisticated information science techniques (biostatistics, modeling, medical informatics) and the creation of new ones; conversely, the development of original research in these methodologies will be better when accompanied by a finalized approach in epidemiology.

On the epidemiological level, the Doctoral School particularly supports research in the epidemiology of infectious diseases, in clinical epidemiology and in the field of risk assessment. In terms of Information Sciences, the Doctoral School particularly supports research in the fields of epidemiology modeling, biostatistics and medical information.

Scientific Objectives

The scientific objective of the Doctoral School is to promote research combining innovation in methods and relevance of applications in public health.

Medical Research in general, relating to Public Health in particular, increasingly requires the use of biostatistics, biomathematics, bioinformatics, and all fields in which the DS has host teams.

The priority fields of application of the DS are clinical epidemiology, infectious diseases, nutrition and perinatality, epidemiology in countries with limited resources, and epidemiology of health risks. A priority objective of the DS is to promote research at the interface of these methodological fields and these fields of application.
